Economic Connectivity Dialogue
The Economic Connectivity Dialogue is a relatively new addition to the Chao Track project. It began as a platform to support Indo-Pak trade, an important confidence building measure. At the Chao Track, we realized the necessity for a platform that can take a closer look at issues, including trade, that affect the quality of life on both sides of the border, as well as the overall prosperity of the region.
South Asia is one of the least connected regions in the world and is home to a large majority of the world’s poor. The intention of the Economic Connectivity Dialogue has been to make small collaborative efforts to ascertain if economic relations may be pulled out of the current political logjam. It is our endeavour to bring to the fore issues on which cooperation is needed, and perhaps even achievable, for the benefit of both countries. The Dialogue commissions policy relevant research that maps the potential on cooperative engagement on issues such a trade, climate mitigation and management of shared resources.
